In 2005, prior to heading out on our Snowmass Wilderness backpacking trip, I scoured
the internet looking for any information on the trail we were using.
I stumbled across an incredibly useful trip report that gave me a good idea
of what we were up against, and because of it, I was better prepared for the hike.
I'm big on planning - I like to know as much information about a region before heading out into it. As
such, I've begun creating my own trip reports in the hope that they may help others in planning their own
treks. In many cases, such as the 14'er trip reports, there's no shortage of them on the internet, and
good guidebooks are still a must, but perhaps these will give the casual reader a good feel for what's out
there.
Most of the trip reports contain photos and various maps, including GPX files, National Geographic TOPO
files, and Google Earth files containing waypoints and routes. If you enjoy
these, feel free to drop me an email at

to let me know that you found them
useful! I'm hiking all the time, so this page should change fairly regularly, so check back often.
I've also put together a page to list some of the free GPS base maps that are available on the web that
I use.
You can check it out here.
Oh, and the usual disclaimer: the information contained in these reports is
just that: information. Please use common sense and caution if you attempt
any of these hikes, and don't trust my information by itself, as conditions
(and my memory) always change!
