Mt. Sniktau (13,234 ft)

Mt. Sniktau is a 13er that's just off of I-70 near Loveland Pass and the Eisenhower Tunnel. From the summit, you have a clear view over the divide above the tunnel on to the Tenmile Range (Silverthorne) and all the nearby ski areas.

Last year, Lonny and I tried to tackle this peak in mid-June. We got turned back when a powerful windstorm essentially forced us to seek shelter. This year, departing much earlier in the year, we came more prepared, ready to do battle with the elements.

Our all-weather gear helped tremendously, given that the temperature was about 20 degrees and the wind was a fairly constant 40 Mph or so.
